I firmly believe Happiness is found in simple and small things. Happiness is not about the awards we reap in a lifetime, the bundles of money we have in the bank, or the number of times we got promoted. Happiness is being able to smile in spite of the adversities in our lives; it is the contentment and satisfaction we feel everyday in spite of our loss of jobs, deaths of loved ones, high-interests of our loans or even a failed marriage.
Optimism plays a big role in being happy with our lives. Having a positive attitude makes life easier and bearable. Remember that we are what we think. If we keep on telling ourselves that we are hopeless and good-for-nothing creatures, then there's exactly nothing to be happy about!
Happiness is a matter of perception. It is how we see things, ourselves and the world around us. To live a happy life you must see that the glass of water is not half-empty; you have to be optimistic, so it should be seen as half-full. We should stop complaining about roses having thorns. It must be perceived the other way around: thorns have roses.
Happiness is being in love with your life, in love with everything that is happening around you and within your own self. It is finding comfort and satisfaction without expecting anything in return. Slow down and take time to smell the fresh cut grass or roses in your garden. Knowing who you are and be happy and content with who you really are is the key to open the door of true happiness.
